Brad Bruszer // Pastor
Pastor Brad was born in Michigan, and raised on the west coast, He asked Christ to be his Savior at a Vacation Bible School in Oregon. In 1982, Brad’s family moved to South Gate, California where his father accepted a call to serve as a pastor. Being raised as a pastor’s kid, Brad was always in church, kids ministries, and youth group, but at a summer camp when he was fifteen made a commitment to Christ, which has since led him to vocational ministry.
After High School he moved across the country to attend Bible college in Western Michigan where he studied theology. It was also at there that he met his wife, Vikki, and they were married shortly after his ordination and graduation in 1998.
In 1999, Brad & Vikki moved across the country to the Spokane Valley where he was a youth pastor. It was there that they had their first two children, Audren & Hudson. In 2004 the four of them moved to Vikki’s hometown, Mobile, Alabama where Brad served as the pastor of Grace Bible Church. After a few hurricanes and another child, Brad & Vikki left the south in 2009 to head back to the inland northwest to start Genesis Church.

Chase Baxter // Student Ministries
Chase Baxter was born in Seattle Washington and gave his heart to the Lord at 7 years old. He moved to Spokane when he was 8 and began to be very involved with his church. He grew up with Christian parents who taught him many valuable lessons as well as a love for the Lord. He attended West Valley High School and felt a call to ministry his Junior Year.
After completing high school, Chase went to Spokane Community College and spent some time interning at his church’s youth ministry. It was during this first year out of high school that he met his wife, Breanna. Breanna was also involved in youth ministry at his church and they spent some time learning what it meant to be a leader and investing in the lives of students.
After graduating from SCC, Chase began working towards a ministry degree online through Global University. It was during this period that Chase and Breanna got married and started attending Genesis Church. After a few months of attending, Chase asked Brad about starting a youth ministry at Genesis, to which Brad gladly agreed that a youth ministry would be a good idea.
In October 2010 Chase, Breanna and Brad started planning what the youth ministry would look like and how to draw in students who didn’t yet know the Lord, and on January 5th, 2011, Kairos officially started meeting. Chase began to take over the administration position that following July and now handles everything from minor book keeping to planning outreach events.
Chase and Breanna have been married for almost a year and love spending time hanging out with other couples and serving in the youth ministry.
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Jonathan Schmitz // Worship
As a kid, Jonathan Schmitz lived in Deer Park, WA. He grew up in a Christian home and believed in Jesus from a very young age. At the age of 14, his dad died and he felt like this is when he started hearing God set him apart for ministry. But it wasn’t until after he graduated high school that he really started pursuing his call to share the gospel.
His first step was attending Calvary Chapel Bible College, and from there he went to work at a summer camp in Maine (called Chop Point). He worked there for three summers and also started a living room bible study in the off-seasons. Sandy, a friend from home, joined Jonathan as a counselor at the camp for his third summer. Jonathan and Sandy moved back to Washington and were married that following February. Jonathan worked at Calvary Chapel Spokane Valley for several years. They also spent some time serving at Calvary Chapel Phelan in California but returned home to help with The Vine Community church plant in Deer Park. Since then, he has been teaching God’s word to anyone who will listen, leading worship wherever God calls him and making disciples.
Jonathan and Sandy have been married for 16 years and have three children: Josiah, Asher, and Talia.
